Recently, Wave Industries Private Limited organized a significant farmer workshop at KVK Bulandshahar, Unit Bulandshahar. The workshop aimed at promoting modern sugarcane farming techniques, particularly focusing on the 5T technology and intercropping methods for autumn sugarcane planting. The event was attended by key senior officials from Wave Industries Pvt Ltd Bulandshahar, including the Chief General Manager, General Manager Cane, Deputy manager Corporate Cane Cell, from government – District cane Officer, Senior cane Development Inspector and other dignitaries. Technical Insights by Mr Anil Kumar Bharti-District Cane Officer on Autumn Sugarcane Planting and New Varieties
Following the introduction, District Cane Official delivered a detailed technical session on the methods for achieving higher sugarcane yields through autumn planting combined with intercropping techniques. He explained how intercropping—planting sugarcane alongside other crops such as potatoes and mustard—can optimize land use and improve soil health. DCO then introduced several new sugarcane varieties, including as CoLk16202, CoS18231, Co15023, Co0118, CoS13235, CoLk14201, and CoS17231, each of which offers different advantages, such as disease resistance, high yield, and adaptability to different climates.
District Cane Officer emphasized the importance of the 5T technology, which includes:
- Trichoderma: A bio-agent used to protect crops from fungal diseases and improve plant health.
- Time: Timing of planting is crucial for ensuring healthy crop growth.
- Trench: Proper trenching techniques help in better root establishment and nutrient absorption.
- Top Portion: Focusing on the top portion of the plant for healthier growth.
- Treatment: Pre-planting treatment of the seed cane to prevent diseases.
He also discussed the management of red rot, a common sugarcane disease, and the importance of using the right amount of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium), organic fertilizers, and green manures to enhance crop fertility.

Dhaka then took the floor to discuss the logistical aspects of sugarcane marketing and the efficient management of the supply chain. He addressed the issues of timely cane shifts, proper allocation of delivery schedules, and the arrangement of cane yards for smooth operations during the harvesting season.
