We will try our best to revive the sugar industry, said Fiji’s sugar Minister Charan Jeath Singh, according to fijitimes.
He was speaking in Auckland, New Zealand on the occasion of Girmit Day celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, he said, girmit and the sugar industry were synonymous with each other and the Fiji sugar industry is the most important legacy of Girmitiyas which we must rebuild to honour them.
“Coming together to rebuild the sugar industry will be the better tribute we can pay to them,” he said.
“We will face many challenges but this must not deter us from rebuilding the sugar industry,” said Singh.
