The molasses based distilleries are required to comply with norms of “Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD)”. At present, the two technologies in vogue are through bio-composting or incineration. There is always a debate about the efficiency of the system(s) and merits/demerits of each. To cope up with the increasing demand of ethanol and to cope up with the EBP requirements, Government of India has stressed on capacity building and use of feedstock other than those available with the sugar industry.
To adopt new technologies which may render some value added products besides ensuring ZLD, National Sugar Institute has planned the webinar.
