Malda district is poised to witness the establishment of 47 new industrial units, attracting investments exceeding Rs 1,100 crore, as announced by Manabendra Mandal, the General Manager of the District Industrial Center (DIC), reported Millennium Post.
Mandal stated this information during the North Bengal Business meeting held at the Biswa Bangla Shilpi Haat in Kawakhali, Siliguri. The infusion of capital into these projects is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for over 6,000 individuals.
As per media report, among these 47 industries, ethanol and poly textile units are the two mega projects, while Cement, wall putty, carpet, jute mill, steel and plastic production units are among others. Notably, during the 2022-23 financial year, an additional 142 industrial units have been established in Malda, encompassing diverse sectors such as jute mills, rice mills, atta mills, starch production, steel, and plastic manufacturing. These ventures collectively represent an investment of Rs 641 crore 17 lakh and have contributed to the creation of 4,224 jobs.
