Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: The Sugarcane Department is focusing on planting new sugarcane varieties during the spring planting season. To achieve this, the Department is facilitating the preparation of saplings of new sugarcane varieties through women’s self-help groups, reported Live Hindustan.
According to officials, due to disease problems in sugarcane variety 0238, there has been an increased demand for other new varieties. Deputy Cane Commissioner Om Prakash Singh informed that these self-help groups include sugarcane varieties such as CEO 0118, 15023, 98014, CRLQ 14201, COS 13235, and others. According to Singh, the risk of disease in these varieties is very low, and production is good.
