Nizamabad: Welcoming the MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao’s decision to extend support to the Visakhapatnam Steel Factory (VSP) movement, S Kumara Swami, general secretary of the Nizam Deccan Sugar Mill Limited (NDSL) workers union said that the government should ensure that the NDSL workers get wages of last six years.
The government should take decisions in this regard during the forthcoming Assembly Legislative Budget meetings, he said.
“From the last five years, the government has not taken note of the plight of the workers who are leading a pathetic life. We urge the minister to take up the issue in this Budget meeting,” he said in a press release issued on Sunday.
Swami said, “We expect that the Industries and Sugar ministers will do the justice to the factory workers by preparing a proposal to pay salaries of the workers in the budget meeting.”
“The State government was implementing a number of welfare schemes as well as a number of social schemes and the issue of wages would be resolved if the government released at least `50 crore to the workers of the three units of the factory’’ he said.
